Lisa Marshall

Lisa J. Marshall created The Smart Work Company to prepare executives, teams and organizations everywhere to be heroes so they can do their best work. Lisa works with customers and partners to:

  • Develop leadership stories for organizations and individuals
  • Motivate leaders and align organizations
  • Improve collaboration and team functioning
  • Coordinate coaching as a culture change tool
  • Envision and help mold future of work environments

Lisa, a nationally recognized authority on leadership maturity as well as the use of story in the workplace, has consulted for Intel, KPMG, The Department of Energy, Capitol One, EDS, Hewlett Packard, NASA, Taiwan Semiconductor and the Dept. of Agriculture. She frequently presents at conferences such as Project Summit, Linkage's Coaching and Mentoring Conference, the International Association of Facilitators, the American Society for Training and Development, the International Coach Federation and the Organization Development Network.

Ms. Marshall's most recent book is called Speak the Truth and Point to Hope: The Leader's Journey to Maturity She also has a chapter called “Where Are the Grownups? Developing Mature Leaders” in the 2006 Pfeiffer Annual: Training She co-wrote, Smart Work: The Syntax Guide for Mutual Understanding, and is co-author of the essay "Why Smart Organizations Don't Learn" in Productivity Press's best-selling Learning Organizations: Creating Cultures for Tomorrow's Workplace Lisa spent 12 years as an educational/ documentary film and video producer, documenting social change, before she moved into business. She is a graduate of Bennington College and is certified in Conversation - Based Assessment ™, Ontological Coaching (Newfield Network), Somatic Coaching (Strozzi Institute), Syntax, and Transition Management. Lisa has been coaching for over a decade and received her Master Coach Certification (MCC) from the International Coaching Federation in 2006.

When she's not traveling to client sites, Lisa can be found in the mountains of central Pennsylvania with Dr. Electrode (her techno-wizard spouse), either coaching on the phone or curled up by the fire and writing about why we resist growing up so much.
